Your Tax Return Process: A Three‑Step Guide

1. Confirming Your Personal Details

We begin by ensuring your personal information is accurate and up to date. New clients complete the New Client Form (PDF), which provides the essential details we need to set you up in our system. Once returned, we notify the Australian Tax Office that you have appointed us as your tax agent. Existing clients can use the same form to update any changes, as it lists the information currently recorded on our system for easy review.

2. Preparing Your Personalised Tax Checklist and Tax Return

After receiving your completed form, we obtain the income information already held by the Tax Office—such as PAYG payment summaries and any interest or investment income. Using this data, along with our understanding of the deductions relevant to your occupation, we prepare your Personalised Tax Checklist. This tailored checklist asks only the questions that apply to you and often highlights deductions you may not have considered. You record your income and expenses on the checklist and email it back to us. If anything is unclear, we are available to talk through the checklist with you over the phone. Once all required information is received, we prepare your tax return using secure electronic Tax Agent software, and every return undergoes a full quality‑assurance review to ensure complete accuracy.

3. Reviewing, Signing, and Lodging Your Tax Return

Your completed tax return is saved as a password‑protected PDF and emailed to you for review and signing. We indicate exactly which pages require signatures, and you can return them by email or post. At the same time, we issue our invoice for the preparation and lodgement of your return, payable via direct deposit or by providing Visa or MasterCard details. As soon as we receive both your signed return and payment, we lodge your return electronically with the Tax Office. Electronic lodgement typically results in assessments being processed within two weeks, with refunds paid directly into your bank account often arriving even sooner. Throughout the entire process, we remain available by email, text, or phone should you need assistance at any stage.
